SUMMARY
Race 0.72s slower than Fillies' Auction race later on Card with Tedious carrying 2lbs less and also with a 3lbs apprentice.
Fast pace to race with field spread out from early on. LNListen run too freely and press on around the bend. Fade early and tired badly late on. Tedious seem to run well and be much the best of the field. Able to attend the pace comfortably early although a little niggled on the bend. A rare winner to run 1 off the rail around the bend over 5f. Took over the lead into the straight and clear from then on. Never appear to fade while the rest of the front of the field early went backwards in the straight at various points.
Andrew Reid back training and in past has been a handler who gets the wins he should with lesser types. All wins in recent years have been at 5-6f. The Market has never had much clue with his horses unless they have had a lot of runs and the form is there to see. Tedious' mother was called Manic. Go back to October 2004 and Manic was winning here at Wolverhampton on her second outing at 33/1 (over 6f). She had finished last of 8 on her debut. Tedious clearly takes after Manic rather than sire Act One who typically gets 8f+ winners and stayers. Manic an OR60s filly and Tedious probably similar but a solid effort here with the pace shape.
Most of other competitive types on profile found some trouble. Exception being JH but he is just plain small and slow because of that and does not stay 5f at present. PAL got a slow break wide and then race wide into the bend and then carried right by the hanging MrsN. A reliable type at his OR50s level so responded as you would expect in straight but never getting to Tedious.
Russian Ice would go into the File where the Horse has the right to ask the Jockey what the *%!*ing hell he does want. In a 5f race on a fast track and RIce breaks first from the stall and has a step on the field. Instead of letting her get on with it he hauls her back (perhaps a little unfair if she had broken right handed). So the horse slows up in response to the request. Now the jockey is jumping up & down and scrubbing along. Stop or Go, make your mind up. Got well behind and still looking green or intimidated by the experience. Best of closer in straight and closing through to 3rd late adnd might have got 2nd if the jockey had been more forceful (seemed to be helping the jockey on PAL out late on by not pipping him for 2nd after he sat up early).
