0.03s slower than the first division but this winner carrying 23lbs more. Sacrosanctus down to OR69 after entering nurseries on OR78 which was always too high for what he had achieved. Down to a lower quality handicap here on OR69 and with the Run Style credentials to attack in what was essentially a three horse race. Just got past the fading JH late and not an 'improvement' effort but at his right level to averagely compete. Typical outcome in Run Style terms in both Divisions for this tight 5f course. Unless something odd happens you need to be the leader through halfway, or close up (within 1.5L) to have any chance of winning. Be 4th at 2L+ at halfway and you are normally in huge trouble. Anything else may as well be easing down. Seven 2yo races at the course have produced 3 wins for the halfway leader, two for the 2nd and one for 3rd (better type in the second race of the season). The 'oddity' was at the last meeting where Dubai Affair managed to get from 5th (at 2.5L) to overhaul the leader. That suggested that perhaps she did something minorly different in her grade. But, two of the horses she got past that day were well beaten here in the two divisions (both fading more than average) so perhaps it was a weak race. That winner has also been beaten since. |
