Profile for race suggested a weak race and an OR70 type could win comfortably. Biggest in field won and fits that model. Those behind may be Seller & Claimer types and worse (say OR63 & less). Check where runner-up goes next. Mick Channon Jnr. interviewed before race and confirmed both were home breds and racy, ready types. Calormen (Fallon) expected to be more forward and Imperial Waltzer to need run. Fallon gave Calormen a notably easy time and either looking after a FTO 2yo on Heavy (as he used to do in Ireland for O'Brien) or possibly not taking the edge off it given that it entered in a seller next Monday. No obvious 'Punt' on Novabridge despite Spencer (who gave it a refreshingly uncomplicated, prominent, ride and got the Stands' rail which look a positive) and the fact that the trainer said it knew it's job. It had been for a racecourse canter and had been working out of the stalls with old-timers like Desperate Dan (also running at the meeting). Haynes stable usually more of a 'Punting' type? Brittain horse Shafgaan run better than 4th sounds and tried to race with the winner and challenge inside 2F out. Got tired in the final half furlong and lost 2nd late to two plugging on rivals. A moderate type but at least ran a competent race. Molly Mylenis small and seem to freeze, startled, by stalls opening. Had to be driven along for much of the race and whipped before halfway. Still responding late in race so perhaps not unwilling but finding the experience (and perhaps the ground) too much. Not obviously one to follow on size though. Check Helen Of Troy & Danehill Deb for Size. |
