SUMMARY
More of the same. The 7-8f races at the track have been a front runners' benefit. Racing prominently is a big advantage and the Far Rail usually 'Live' to make it difficult to overhaul them. First and third (second by 3f out) through halfway finished in those places here and Star Surprise adding to his maiden win over 7f here with a similar Run Style. Had a 2L+ break at halfway for very little effort.
Marzante held up too far back from an early stage and, if you look at the season stats, was in trouble after 2f. He had to use the effort he could raise in the last 2f to close up to a challenging position then stalled.
The 8.1f maiden here yesterday saw the leader through halfway finish only second. But, he appeared beaten on a number of occasions and kept on rolling and eventually going down to the third strong challenger late on. That winner might have done something a bit 'different' in a clear win and making ground well away from the rail.
