Field Raced Centre to Stands Strip. Winner had easy lead and 2.5L clear after 3F for no effort. Laughable start to the race with all the jockeys half stood up and holding their horses waiting for something to take the lead. Jockey Durcan (retained ride after Hannon 1st string a NR) on Sister Red part of this nonsense and looked across at the others. Quickly took the decision to go on and got 2-3L for nothing as the others sorted themsleves out. Able to wind the pace 2f out and delay his effort until late on and was the going to take something 'different' to get her back. Usual patchy group behind despite the Class 2 label and no previous winners in the field with ATY an NR. 3 of first 4 home fillies with previous runs and newcomers unlikely to have the nous to compete in this set-up given the trainers they ran for. Most promise from Parvana whom Spencer managed to haul back to last despite the general Holdery. Jockey compounded giving away a lot of ground in a slow race by delaying his effort then choosing to move laterally to a different track position as the others were making their efforts. How long a list of things Spencer doesn't do very well does anyone need before the 'Top Class Pilot' bit goes away. You were right Aiden. But, Parvana produced what looked like a real forward effort once allowed to and going forward at the finish. |
