Rail well out on far rail until 2f out = nearly to Centre track. Field stayed far side in the straight. Jockey Mullen interviewed after the race and said MCard had been a very slow learner. Had not competed as well as expected on debut and then found Chester too much of a techincal test LTO. Improved for that and raced prominently here and more professional. Who knows what owner Fretwell said because listening to him is pretty much as pointless as Aiden O'Brien. He will opine that everybody he works with is terrific then go into the sales patter. Selling the horses in Fretwell's case and laying out the Stallion Advertising literature in O'Brien's. RRiverman has been a tricky horse to break and train according to the trainer. In his previous two runs he has got behind and not looked that helpful then got himself into the places late on with a solid effort. But, has never actaully been able to get involved in the race properly. Jockey struggling with him to get him to respond on the downhill section and the effort was missing then an early fade. A poor vehicle to be betting odds-on. |
