SUMMARY

Jockey Hughes interviewed after the race said that CTRio had got unbalanced (changed lead & slightly hang right) and lost impetus just as he had taken the lead. He felt this had stopped the horses pulling 2-3L clear whereas he instead just gave him time to get organised and did enough to win. Said the horse had travelled as comfortably as he had expected behind the pace set.
But, he was more than 6 lengths off the leading pair so ought to have been. LAvon & SAP hook up early and run too freely together and close to 4L clear of the 3rd in Scarlet Rocks (a suicidal front runner herself on occasion) but settled here. PIAD struggling to go pace before halfway. With front pair going too fast and fading and PIAD outgunned CTR effectively only had SRocks & his stablemate Takeaway to beat and the Hannon stable knows how good that pair are and they are not even Listed class.
