- Jean-Claude Rouget. French trainer born in 1953 and son of succesful trainer Claude Rouget. Worked for his father and had spells in Britain working for Ian Balding & Paul Cole. Set up with his own licence in Pau in south-western France in 1978 having represented Chantilly trainer Freddie Palmer at the local winter NH festivals. Pau is considered 'unfashionable' being away from the main training centres in the north. Originally mainly targeted French NH racing. Briefly had a satellite yard at Chantilly in 1996-7.
- Between 1991 to 1994 broke the record for number of winners in one season muliple times. Raising it from 178 to a peak of 242. Has had more than 150 winners in every season since. Majority of winners at France's numerous Provincial tracks. First major winner in 1994 with Group 1 victor Millkom and successes at that level since, prior to 2010, with Shaka, Germance & Ask For The Moon.
- No British raced 2yo prior to 2010.
