Lack of rain in last month has made surface dry and fibresand being watered and rolled. Light to medium breeze as a half Tailwind from the right. Tom Dascombe on a small message service 2 hours before the race "Basantee will hopefully go on the surface & I am hopeful of a bold run" Basantee a negative in review and seemed to run better than that promised. Seemed to handle the surface very well and skipped over it in the straight where she moved centre to stands' side while the placed horses stayed centre to far side. Anonymous over 5f on Grass FTO and perhaps the case that ideally suited to this surface. On looks one to oppose back on turf. More one to look for improvement if she returned to this surface after a break. Placed horses looked usable OR60s with trainer O'Meara clearly worried about Ingleby Angel in interview. Said he was 'Hot at home and hoped he behaved himself'. Said he had worked on something close to Fibresand at home. Fizzy overall bu ok in the race if running a little freely. Not getting home and perhaps go back to 5f. AET another ok for OR60s and a competent race until fading. |
