Auction for those costing £19k or less up to June 30th, 2010 or less than £22k for later sale. 2lb allowance for each £5.5k below £22k (£3k added to early sales). Draw 4 widest. Medium breeze from SW. Messy race with a mixed pace and unusual changes of position around the bend. Moderate performance level and all runners either making some of their own problems of lacking readiness to see the race out fully. Interesting set of runners and perfprmances typical of the trainers. Snowed In too green on debut to get involved in a fast race (which was too fast for the Brocklesby winner). Slightly slower start here but responded to being bustled along early to be able to keep with the leader. Then carried wide on the bend to lose ground. Green again 2f out when asked to pick up and a moderate response then got unbalanced. But, stuck at it quite well when realising what was required towards the last 1f. Trainer Moore has shown profits following all his 5f and March to May STOs in the last 2 years and this sort of improvement not unusual. But lucky to run into a soft race to win here. Bigger than the trainer's STO beaten yesterday so able to compete in a similar group in this auction event. That's Dangerous a very early start for trainer Charlton and in recent seasons April 29th the earliest and early to Mid-May more typical. June starts in some seasons. The very early runners will tend to be competitive 2yos and this one bought by the trainer and by the FSS Three Valleys (whom Charlton trained). So, lots of hints this would be a competitive 2yo at some level. The trainer has a very good website and TD gets several mentions and pictures. But, the earliest runners can be gree and this one lost 4L at the start then managed to get back into the group around the bend as the leader carried the winner wide. TD then also took time to get going through being green when asked to make his effort 2f and made a similar effort to the winner in the last 1f+ with the pair duelling to the line. Ok promise as an OR65-72 early type if lacking some size and scope. Trainer Hannon made an untypical fast start in 2010 with 7 debuts wins in his first 9 runners. Mrs Mop forecast as a short price favourite but reality had got through to the Market and you presume the stable had said this was a smaller, moderate one. Plus, the stable's first three runners this year have been typical in not seeing the last 0.5f out after being competent (or good enough in Lord Ofthe Shadow's case) to get involved. Mrs Mop ran an ok race after being bumped at the start and left in the lead briefly on the bend as the leader hung wide. But, then unable to comfortably go with the leader when re-headed towards 2f+. Left in the lead again 2f out but then stalling in the last 1f and unable to hold off the bigger males late on. Some sort of OR60s and another more typical peak STO type debut. Multi Blessing an interesting horse. Cheaply bought and vaguely related to a good filly that raced for the trainer and owner (Mixed Blessing). First runner for FSS Multiplex who would not be obvious to get early 5f types. So, opening as 14/1 outsider as expected. But, backed in to 9/2 but that would take hardly any money at an afternoon Kempton meeting and owner Shankland likes to bet on his horses anyway (not in a 'Gamble' sense but because he likes having a bet). But, MB a bigger types in the field and ought to be able to compete well with the others on size. But, the trainer notable for producing very fizzy and tightly wound 2yos (including for debut) and they often underperform because of that (some never reach their potential). This showed up here with MB taking off with the jockey down the back straight and running too freely. This lack of control then showed up on the bend with the jockey wrestling to try to hold him and the pair ending up hanging. Having run too freely he then faded notably. So, one that ought to be competitive in this sort of group but will the trainer be able to channel the power he has positively. |
