Medium to Strong Breeze as a Crosswind from the Left. Multi Blessing fulfilling the promise of the relative size and power shown on previous two runs. Wild and uncontrollable around a bend FTO. Development run 2nd and mostly settled in the lead but not seeing out an extended 5f on an uphill finish and not handling the camber on the Brighton straight. Broke best and got a comfortable lead on a faster course here. Settled left alone in front and good picture of him making a kick towards 2F out and leaving the smaller Red Socks behind. Trainer normally struggles to get this type fixed but solid job here. Courtland King just over 3L back towards 2F out having been held back to midfield from a wide draw. Beaten just under 3L and slightly hampered by RS as he tried to make his effort. Similar effort overall to the winner but less immediate kick and again not really finishing the race off. Maltease Ah an owner bred by ex-trainer (Andrew Reid, who has 'retired' several times) and a surprise to see it sent to Fahey given Reid lives in Mill Hill near London. Presumably why the LNGA debut for Fahey. A bit bigger than RS and showed enough to be usable at a lower level. Both his dam and the previous sibling won at WON STO for Reid at long SPs. Might switch there but with Fahey at the wheel the long SP probably gone. Calendar King the second newcomer for Channon that ended up as favourite on the day. The trainer gets only a few debut wins each year and at set times and in set circumstances. Neither of today's pair really fit the model. Both made slow starts and ran green and didn't even make the usual 2nd-5th range for a solid debut for Channon. Trainer talked about starting this one early in April so presumably some problem to delay him. Too green here to judge what he might be capable of. |
