SUMMARY
£10k Bonus Race.

GSG going with Going Stick 7.7 at 6:00am with Light rain through the morning before racing. Medium Breeze as a Half Headwind from the right in the straight.

Pacee too Strong with a pressing Lo5 forming up and breaking up from inside the last 2f with HSItIs the first to crack and See Clearly the last. First two home newcomers who kept out of the leading line by slower starts but able to sit close enough to mount challenges from 3-5L back at halfway. Worthington an unlikely looking winner through 3F having been green early on and the jockey resting to the whip before 2f had gone. Assisted by the strong pace in that set-up and would not have won with a usable pace for the leaders. Hanagan (typically?) made his ground the 'short way' up the Far Rail as the field stayed Far Side. SIMStep in the first colours but longer in the Market than Commanche. Green early and raced widest of the Group throughout and closer to the pace than the winner. Good effort to get to the lead in the last 1F but not able to see the race out in the same way as the winner. Another typical strong debut for trainer Dods this year. Possible that the Market had it right with Commanche a solid type and bigger than SIMS. But, typically again, another over-racing type for trainer Smart and pulled himself to the lead of the pressers. Ok effort given the free-running. Trainer Smart gets too many of the over-racers and some never settle down. Think Bop It at YORK who then bombed out completely STO when he fought the jockey who tried to hold him up. Think Boundless Spirit in 2010 who was a Conditions race winner in early season then turned into an uncontrollably tearway and still hasn't been fixed yet this year, even with a new trainer.

[UPDATE = Fahey in his Friday Column on the Sporting Life Website = "Worthington took me a little by surprise at Carlisle on Monday. We've got some two-year-olds on grass now so we're not guessing as much as we were. She's always shown a little bit but there were some quite well-fancied horses in there but she did it well and did nothing wrong. We might go to Ascot with her but we'll see how she is." ]
