SUMMARY
£10k Bonus Race.

Stiff Breeze as a Half Headwind from the Right in the Home Straight. Direct headwind on the Downhill section.

Hannon on his website = "We have so many two-year-olds ready to roll, so it's good that the six furlong maiden has split. Redact is a smashing Strategic Prince colt who has done some good work on the gallops, while Dark Angel is a sire doing really well and we like his colt, Gadreel."

Tom Dascombe on a small message service at Noon on the day = "Spring Daisy needs to improve on her first run but will..."

Broken Race to some extent with, presumably, too strong a pace up front concerning the first 6 through halfway. Three very slow starters made up of two who tried to get involved (Redact & Fire Ship) and one not wanting to (OBBilly). Those three all adrift after 1f and 10L+ back of the lead. Leading 6 broke up slowly and an ugly set of efforts by them to produce a slow motion duel in the straight and all fading by 0.5F+ out. ILad able to lift the lead off SD towards the last 2F and kick the efforts off. Made an ok effort but not Open Maiden quality. Rook'ripple has looked slow in previous races and again travelled ok but nothing much happens in the 'sprint' and she eventually wore ILad down but she also fading by 0.5f out. Red Alpha still looking mentally young and sloppy and needing to be driven along to get going and join the leaders. Ugly response when asked for his effort and rolled around an unable to get past ILad & The Rook. Race run in a notably slow time and the second division even slower. Perhaps slow conditions on the day but seems like a moderate to poor race up front unless something better in the closers.

Redact chosen as Hannon's 'Bargain Buy' in this year's 2yo book and talked up before this race. But, given the amount of ground he lost at the start he shouldn't have been winning unless aided by a moderate group who went a bit too hard up front. Still green into the straight and took time to get going. Seemed to fins his stride 1F out but on the Concrete Strip up the centre of the LNGA home straight that many horses appear to take off up. That forward effort made to look better by going past faders to win in a slow time. But, comfortable win in the end and an Ok type.

Clearly not much behind to be interested in but Fire Ship looks an interesting Horse. Cheaply retained as yearling and a slight odd physical set-up. Taller and almost too rangy for his size and a bit leggy & narrow overall. Lacking some power but seemed to move ok although showing a knee action. Probably 20L behind at worst and got back into a mildly challenging position towards the last 2F around 2.5L behind the winner. Unable to mount that one's challenge but okish response until fading. Crowley here for a Winkwortk debut as a positive and perhaps a 7f+ galloper but the one in the ruck to follow.
