SUMMARY
GFG Going with Going Stick reading 6.7 at 7:30 Sat. Strong Breeze as a Three-Quarter Tailwind from the right.

Fahey in his Friday Column on the Sporting Life website = "Alejandro's got to give weight all round ... but he ran well at York the other day when he finished fifth but probably should've been second. It will be tough for him with the penalties but he tries very hard and if he finished in the three I'd be delighted."

Strong pace set by EQL making an early effort after a sloppy break and upping the pace after halfway. Strength of pace put other under pressure and only FE finished the race off fully. Fast time and quicker than any other since the start of 2004. Quickets times in recent years have been in the equivalent race with Capercailie running 58.19s in 2009 and Excel Bolt 58.31s in 2010. Time solid considered againt the other 5f races on the card.

EQL perhaps running too freely and not seeing the race out and fading late on. But picked up by the winner soon after 1.5F out with the pair clear of the other three. A little disappointing given the overall promise of his last run. Perhaps better for a less pressing run style.

Trainer David Brown can get a little 'Misty Eyed' about his horses and see them as being better than they are. After FEngels had been left behind by Shumoos LTO (after running a bit too freely into a stiff headwind) Brown briefly interviewed and said how disappointed he was because FE had 'run around' late on again and he felt he was much better than he had shown and was easily good enough to go to Royal Ascot. After this effort that seems a fair comment. Able to chase a strong pace set by anoter and then showed a very strong finish for an extended period in the last 2f. Still a little unbalanced but mostly controlled. An improved effort but still seems a real compliment to the two horses who have beat him comfortably. Perhaps the defeats on his first two runs owed quite a lot to running into the 'Real Thing'.
