SUMMARY

GF going with watering but no details. Course reports heavy shower began at 10:30 (after the Going Stick reading of 8.1 taken). Race on the Inner Course for the first time this year. Going changed to Good before racing started and to GS after this race. Medium to Stiff breeze as a Three-Quarter Headwind from the left.

Brian Meehan on his website wrt Hidden Passion = "We expected a good run from her at Kempton and still do not know what happened to her there. Martin felt her take a bad step and pulled her up, but she was fine the following morning and obviously ever since, or else she would not be running here. Has worked well for some time and we expect her to run a big race – mishaps apart" and Proud Pearl = "Lovely Proud Citizen filly who has been working very nicely. Should run a good race but could need the experience." Dwyer rides Proud Pearl and Kelly on Hidden Passion.

Race played out like an average pace with a lot of free-running and pulling early on. Final sprint of 2f+ with far side of centre group making initial moves. As these stalled and faded the Stands' to centre side came through with the very fit Viola D'Amour staying on best after strggling to match the initial efforts. Mahkama going better than the winner and jockey able to delay his effort towards the last 1.5f having gone pace VAmour unpressed. Found less than expected then faded notably.
