GF Going with Going Stick at 8.0 at 7:00am. Unspecified amounts of watering including the straight on the morning of the meeting. Medium Breeze as a mostly crosswind from the right (very slight Headwind). Extrended distance winners in many races on the card. Part of the reason seemed to be a Stands' Rail bias and the centre of the track a swamp. Like the 'Mousie' race here in earlier season this event did just not play out in a sensible manner. Poor horses running over 7f muddies the issue a bit but the first three home raced closest to the rail throughout. Anything even just 3-4 lanes off it seemed to be at a disadvanatge. Pushed along early just to try to keep up with the pace set by Artic Dancer running next to the rail with Schmooze in behind that one. Early and complete fades from anything wider as well. Clear winner but worth remembering that Mousie looked quite good relatively in her race (Auction event) running down the rail from wider faders but has been beaten in several sellers & claimers since. Godber entered in the first race of the season over 5f but appears now over 7f. Looked green and unwilling throughout and given a hard ride. His last grass gallop for Channon was on May 31st and he went better than Captain Cardington who runs in the first 7f maiden of the year tomorrow at SDWN. Check how that one goes and at what SP. |
