SUMMARY
GF Going with Going Stick at 8.7 on Weds = UPDATE = . 5mm of rain on Weds and 6mm of watering. Stalls Stands' Side. Light Breeze as a Half Headwind from the right.

Hannon on his Website = "We also have Sixx going to Chepstow. He surprised us when winning first time out at Salisbury, and maybe we were being a bit ambitious when then pitching him in the National Stakes at Sandown, though he ran well enough in that Listed race and he will certainly appreciate this extra furlong."

Field raced Centre track for much of race and first three concluded there. Clear winner (3L+) of the following 3yo Maiden Handicap went clear down the stands' rail with the closers there as well. Perhaps a rail bias compared to centre track? This race run 0.44s slower than the Handicap winner off OR58 who was carrying 7lbs less than Factory Time.

Interesting race with an unusual shape and pace. Sixx broke well although picking up sloppily found himself in the lead. Took off early and got jockey Dobbs got part run away with. Had to pull the horse back so hard that they got into a battle and the horse, sloppy again, stumbling and unbalanced at times after 2F because concentrating on fighting the bit rather than what his hooves were doing. Ortea with him but the opposite problem with the jockey having to bustle him along to get front rank. Presumably the hard brakes applied on Sixx meant that the pace was dropping towards halfway and jockey Catlin on Factory Time started inching forward to and took the lead at halfway and pressed the pace on soon after. This dropped Sixx quickly and he was gone by 2F out and presume running too free will be the excuse. Ortea unable to match the effort of FT and then started hanging. Probably gave close to what he has and the rating of his in another lesson in how easy it is to over-rate early season races.

Jockey on Bling King responded to FT's move to halfway to try to go with him. Had to persist not to get shut out of a gap between FT and Ortea at halfway. Produced nearly as good as effort as the winner after halfway but not seeing the race out as well. PJackson always travelling widest and unable to match the efforts of the first two but responded ok.

Solid overall pace and early start to the later race efforts seems to have spread the field out by ability. Watching the first three home in the last 2F a good example of how physical bulk and quality along with straight movement ranks the horse often. FT the biggest and most quality and the smoothest mover. Won comfirtably and can compete at higher level. BK nearly as bulky but not as neatly made and a less fluent mover. Will be ok competing in handicaps (so up to around OR81) and at longer distances. PJ smaller than the other two and had been fully fit and ready on debut as the Coakley runners often are. Sweating showing here and his 2yos can tend to show that (as part of the full home prep) but often still compete ok. Ran to his ability but outmuscled by a couple of bigger lads who move as well as he does.
