SUMMARY
For Fillies who cost £28,000 or less at auction. Under £22.5k less 2lbs, under £17k less 4lbs, under £12k less 6lbs & under £6k less 8lbs. Allowances not cumulative.

Light wind as cross-wind from the left. Field raced stands rail and mostly well grouped for first 2f before some hanging right started. Solid pace put field under pressure.

Trainer Tim Easterby gets rare FTO wins and the mid April Ripon Open Maiden a race he targets. He won that this year with a filly although it was earlier in May. He clearly has more than one OR70+ filly this year and Ponty Acclaim able to improve his Ripon record in this fillies' Auction race. A low level race 8 of the 12 fillies in the lowest two bands. Ponty Acclaim in the lowest band and small but a competent, mature attitude, trier. Able to sit behind the solid pace and pick up the pacemakers as they stalled or faded. Presume capable of OR70+ but limited scope on size. Interesting to watch Easterby being interviewed after the race and very much in "Name, Rank, but you cannot have my Serial Number.." mode. Mixed messages by saying he just got his horses fit enough at home and then let them run. Which fits with his record. Then let his guard down a bit and said this one had "Done some good bits of work at home" before realising he had gone too far and clammed up again.

Beau Mistral another from the Brocklesby midfield to run ok on the day but be vulnerable to anything with a bit more zip. More evidence on the overall downside for the Brocklesby despite her second. Ran well, in context, to set a pace to break the rabbits and never fully fade. But, not Open Maiden winner class so needs to find the right type of set-up to win. Another cheap one running off bottom weight.

Launch On Line a good example of how a small filly who was wound up for debut can run less well STO. Especially when she failed to see out 5f on the AW at downhill Lingfield and now on a straight, turf track and having to make an effort to get to the leading pair from a wide draw. Claimers & sellers wearing cheekpieces beckon.

Clearly no a race to look too deeply into for the future but a couple to track for the future and one to dismiss. Arcticality running for Fahey so gets taken a little seriously but 10/1 in this race a negative sign and the Review explained that. Small, underpowered and green. Not likely to improve much.

Dora's Sister a better type in the context of the race as the most expensive purchase running. Early runner for a front-loading trainer so ought to be competitive. Some support but not fit enough on the day and green in the prelims. Ran that way with everything happening too fast for her and then hanging on the downhill slope in the last 2f. Ought to be a STO improver.

Pendle Lady definitely one to track and a solid size in the context of this group. Green and hanging throughout so unable to show what she can do. But an almost certain winner in her next two runs.

Kevin Ryan in a period (Mid to end April) when he normally starts off a number of solid and better ones and the best can compete to win FTO. Mebsuta not look that type on size and too green here. Managed to get from off the back to a remote 6th at the line by being driven all the way and mostly sticking nearer to the rail until some slope hanging. Not really promising despite making a lot of places from halfway into the faders.
