SUMMARY
Light Wind on day as (small) part tailwind from the right. Fast conditions with Bath having no watering system and no recent rain. Fast time because of the conditions. Only faster time in 2009-10 by Owain in 2010 in 61.03s carrying 9lbs less. 3 times under 61s since 2003 with Amour Propre (5f Group Winner at 2yo) running a remarkable 59.5s and Vaunt running 60.7s (she was sold to the US and Grade 3 placed there). Times between 61.1s to 61.7s often run by OR60-70s 2yo handicappers here on fast going.

Regulation FTO win by Channon for Jaber Abdullah whom many of the trainer's FTO success are for. Factory Time a medium sprinter type and you wonder whether a similar sort of type and career to a 'Royal Desert'. Watch the Gallops FT has done on the Channon website and a few things show up. A mostly natural type and a straight mover. Gets a bit keen and they have tried holding him in behind in some gallops but he has travelled so comfortably that he ends up climbing over the back of others. He also seems to have been upgraded and his latest gallops have been with Signifer & Pitt Rivers who started in the strong Newbury maiden last week. He goes at least as well as either of those. Which meant this soft race looked just the type that Channon gets FTO wins in. Presumably can improve to rate OR80+ and will probably be tried in Listed races. [Update - Channon on his website = "He's a smasher - he's a six furlong horse already, but I had no qualms about sending him this early over five. Chris couldn't pull him up and he'll improve hugely for that experience. He was up against two with previous experience which is always a boost and he has that touch of class. Regardless of how far they might need in time, if a horse has quality, he should win over the shortest trip. He's a big horse who can only get better."]

Copper Falls remarkably fit on the day and ran well. Finished the race off properly having been hauled back to 3rd and 2.5L off the lead at halfway. But, usual niggles about the trainer and finding the right opportunity before the form level tails off or starts bouncing around.

Worth showing enough to be OR60s without being open maiden level and the trainer running a lot early this year. Sea Poet small, compact and limited and presume seller bound. Spring Daisy a Dascombe FTO BUT ridden by Robert Smith (back with the yard as a work rider?) which almost always means a duff one. Another very fit for the day and too green to keep up. Dascombe seems to be more in the season-winners-show-up-well-FTO mode so an unlikely improver. See whether Kingscote ever rides her. CKing some support at his 'Home' track and bullied to lead. Fading early off a solid pace. Check whether he can develop to be usable OR60 handicapper if he ever stays 5f.
