SUMMARY
First £10,000 (£10k) Yearling Bonus race of season with that amount to be shared by the owners and the other connections on top of the price money. Trainers Fahey and Hannon most notable for completely changing their early season methods to target these races in 2010. Hannon having more FTO winners than ever until things settled down.
Fahey had more than twice as many debut wins in 2010 than ever before (partly assisted by more runners) and from earlier season and continued to be profitable to follow in various ways. Worth noting his 5 x FTO winners in Mar-Apr 2010 were all better types (OR85+) and mostly multiple winners during the season. His two debuts in 2011 in Ireland have been unconvincing with a soft ground flop on turf (Lost City) and a 2nd by One Kool Dude in a muddling AW race at Dundalk with OKDude looking green at times (in a race that favourite Bible Black would probably have won by a clear margin if he had ever got a run while looking much the best prospect).
So MWOArt a test for how ready his 2yos are FTO and a mixed story. Took time to get going and niggled along to keep up with the professional Bill Turner pair past halfway. Took time to get going in the straight but a strong finish in the last 1f and lengthened well to come clear (probably on the best strip on Lingfield's straight). Smaller type but enough power and build and also an athletic mover. Ought to be OR80+ and capable of another win without looking like a longer term prospect.

Good example of how these early races can play out with both Turner horses competent and able to get to the front two positions comfortably. Launch On Line ridden by apprentice Fox who appears the preferred jockey for the stable (always uses apprentices). She shortened in the betting while The Dancing Lord drifted. LOLine small and type who will not grow much and looks complete already. Allowed to cross to the rail and lead by her stablemate and set a solid pace. Produced a bit of a kick to the straight to be 2L clear and briefly might have looked like the winner. But, smaller than MWOA and comfortably run down by that filly once she started going forward with LOL stalling. The turner filly will presumably end up in sellers (say OR61) but has chance of winning a soft 5f race early on what she showed but always vulnerable to anything with a bit more size and power.
TDL related to a dam and two siblings who started early for the trainer and won S-3TO by mid-April. The two siblings both won the same claimer at Thirsk in mid-April with one allowed to be claimed. This one ridden by the stable's 7lb apprentice and drifted notably in the Market. Had been entered for the Musselburgh maiden on April 1st with the same jockey but ran here instead. Perhaps hoping the Musselburgh race as bad as in 2010 but a strong edition in 2011 on declarations. Bigger than LOL and travelled well enough for 3f to think he might get involved for the win. But, unable to raise any kick at 2f out and then fading 1f out. Perhaps not a real 5f horse but trainer pushes everything into the same OSFA box. Probably Evens to end up in the claimer at Thirsk STO and if could finish the race off might well be competitive.

COR a little green and Market support might just have been the Market reacting to trainer's win in first race of season. Leggy and Narrow and probably OR60s. No immediate promise from the others but a note on Night Angel. Trainer Millman has a peculiar record in that he used to gets lots of targetted FTO winners. With the stable turning in lesser returns in 2007-10 he has not managed a debut place in those years. The defining feature of his 2yos is now the STO blossoming off poor or moderate debuts. These can be at long odds and profitable to follow. He also front-loads competitive ones he has into the 5f debuts. Which means Night Angel needs a big check STO. She looked green and obstreperous here. Reared up and unseated the jockey in the parade ring. Taken TP last on her own and baulking & planting on the uphill part. As unhelpful in the race. Narrow bodied and not that big but probably just enough about her to compete in an early race.

Sabusa a cheap one for a major owner and also unhelpful to the jockey in the race so showed nothing. Trainer McCabe is developing his appraoch as he develops his stable strength. But, he seems to have some real traits. The early debuts at 5f from early season through to May have been a poor source of future winners. The ones that are capable of winning usually show up well FTO. So this one needs all the 'green' excuses and does not appeal as a STO blossomer. Especially as the trainer has never had a STO win with a 2yo in 59 attempts (Why?). Worth noting that if he has a good one in his 5f debuts it should be Outlaw Torn who runs in the Brocklesby and cost £57k. Given his competitive ones show up well FTO might be of each-way interest at Doncaster depending upon the Paddock Review. But, this an untypical Brocklesby with previous runners and a winner in it so a tougher than normal edition in some ways.

Book't a full brother to a runner who has done well for trainer and owner. But, looked on small side and typically green here. Trainer does not get winners before May anyway and moderate record overall. This looked a development project that might find it's level in handicaps in late season of over the winter on the AW.
