Auction for fillies costing £18k or under. But, topweight cost only €7,000 at the sales and a compressed weight range with her giving 1-2lbs to the other fillies. Sales prices may have been depressed by the general recession but, even so, a moderate to poor race on profile. Not one to be looking in the beaten horses for anything other than OR50-63 quality in the long view. Aquasulis green TP and stopped, unseating the jockey, when initially going down alone. Went down witht he others but still looking around. Gawky, hung up behind and bits & pieces physical type as well. Might be ok in seller with a bit of development and the Evans soup up. QOTHop small but a usable physical type at her level as her picture shows. Probably not really 5f and perhaps need 6f+ although size alays an issue as the season develops. Some Support but backing Stan Moore FTOs not a good move overall and these minor 'punts' rarely amount to anything. Competent in the race but blown away by a nippy 5f type who is bigger than she is. Which demonstrates the point about the lower in quality you go with a FTO punt the more likely you are to run into a 'surprise'. On his News page for his Website says of his Brocklesby runner - Crowning Star - "He's nice [aagh], look's like a 3yo already, but like all of mine will come on for the run". Apart from the dispiriting daisychaining of cliches why would you want to be punting one of his FTO unless you though it was OR76+ (at least)? Dijarvo a good example of the nippy natural that can win these races quite comfortable and still not really be OR70 in the long term. But, always travelled best and showed some real go around the leading pair into the straight and zip clear. Showed something a bit different in the context of this low level and might get above OR70 at some point and be up to competing in early Novice company. Runs for a trainer who raely gets 2yo winners because he only runs a few and most are moderate. But he usually runs the best he has early and they can show up well FTO. Nannerl not look ready in condition and the type to peak STO after a competent debut. But low OR60s overall. No interest in the others unless the NR was Kelleway's best early filly who might have given the winner a better race than those that did run. |
