Medium Breeze as a crosswind from the right. Going Stick 10.4 and 10.0 at the previous meeting. Charlton comment on his website on morning before race wrt Excavator = "he has shown plenty of speed, although his family is full of stamina. The ground will be fast but he is a good mover and I hope will run well." He broke bes and able to get over to the rail to set a solid but controlled pace here. Able to delay his effort into the last 2f as only attended by a small filly. Solid run but fading late. Seemed best debut for trainer so far and most competent. Ought to get 70+. B52 a rare piece of knowing how to win by the trainer. Given a hidden debut in a big field but as an early runner for the trainer ought to be comeptetive OR66+ at least. Supported here and given a clam ride by Sanders. No panic when on the rail behind Excavator and let the race develop and then able to nip past the leader as that one stalled late on. Shorter type and perhaps not go much higher and trainer's 2yos tend to show inconsistent form. Trainer gave an even more 'Hidden' debut to Xinbama as his second debut after this one. Check how that goes STO at Thirsk 2 days later. Verbeeck the first non-seller type to debut for owner Fretwell and like prominent debuts. Trainer McMahon perhaps does not have his 2yos as ready as he used to. Last two seasons produce 2 x FTO wins each year and for really better types (2 of those 4 have won Group races, for eg). Go back to 2007 and more FTO wins and places and won this race for Fretwell with and OR80s Novice type FTO. Vebeeck a good predigree for this but barley medium and green here. Raised reasonable effort switched wide to get to 3rd before fading. Soild type for STO but not look better class and Market drift probably informative. Three others fillies and 2 x small & limited. Choisirez a bit more size but narrow. Surprise to see her so short AP given her poor, non-competitive 4th in a suspect race FTO. Jockey Gannon active from the start on her and attititude perhaps not right. |
