SUMMARY
Strong wind on day as a Headwind in the chute and a Half Headwind from the right in the Straight. Going at GFF with watering. 20mm applied on Sunday and 16mm on Saturday. Going stick reading of 9.0 and 8.7 at the previous meeting (for Van Go Go seller) with the same going report.

First six paired up through halfway with leaders within neck of each other with Nayarra & Worth tucked in behind. Kyllasie on inside within 3L of lead tucked in but Summathisnthat outside of leaders having switched to the centre and then run a bit free and into the back of the 2R and at 3.5L. PAngel a slow start and always adrift and only a brief effort by the jockey 2f out before packing it in again.

Not a strong race overall and main questions for future are around how good the first two are. Vocational has been entered for various races since the start of the season and was in the Lily Agnes later in the week. Second FTO winner of day for Mark Johnston for the same owner and making it three strong debuts in a row in 2 days after a short break from the wobbly April debuts. Vocational talked up a bit and out of a Group 1 winning 2yo dam who has produced garbage with her first three foals. Best of this moderate field but not convincing as one that can go much higher.

Nayarra another out of a useful dam who surprised with how good she was considering how small she was. But, she topped out at Listed level despite the breeding and being a sibling to 3 x Group winners. She has not produced anything above OR70s winners with three foals and not that speedy either. Now, Nayarra looks notably small and smaller than her mother. Probably similar size to Purple Angel who was retained for £700 at the sales. Mick Channon likes to win FTO for new arab owners to the yard and Nayarra seemed to have been given a more thorough prep than usual to try to ensure this. Working with older horses mainly, always being asked to lead late on so she doesn't freeze in front and so on. Very fit here and along with her size and light build not a taking type. Unable to match Vocational's effort and with some limited fillies close behind. Channon usually starts OR70 fillies in this race and can squeeze wins at surprising levels for them by souping them up at 2yo. Nayarra seems to need to be that type rather than being that talented (with deference to the dam who taught the reviewer a fair bit about how much a big engine in a small frame can achieve). One to let see how she goes rather than wanting to support her future.

No interest in those behind who are sub-OR70s and worse. Worth noting that Make-Up (as the RPost has it) or Make Up (as everyone else does) was an NR because she didn't match her Passport. Which is a serious enough failing by the trainer to be referred to the BHA. Was the right filly there?
