In the next race which was an older horse handicap won by OR82 rated female carrying 1lbs more in 56.32s. Roger Charlton on his website the day after the race = "Tioman Legend was a very different colt to the one that ran at Newbury, always travelling strongly and winning by an easy 5 lengths. It was probably a weak race but I hope he will continue to improve and be capable of staying 6 furlongs in time. He could possibly run again in a novice at Windsor on May 23rd over 5 furlongs.". Tioman Legend won comfortably and looked out of place in this group from the start. Bigger and better built and always travelling much better than anything else. Ran on the outside of the group away from the advantaged rail. Clearly OR80s and better physical type of the sire with scope to improve. Trainer Kelleway talking up Red Socks after a second at Kempton but that form was suspect and probably a moderate race. Comfortably dealt with here despite being able to control the race on the rail and an indicator of the difference between a real Open Maiden class winner and the placer type. Not able to beat the limited filly Royal Purse by far and that pair are OR50s-60s presumably. Minor excuse in having run a little too freely around the end of the first 1f. Odd early runner for trainer Eustace with Denton Dancer and by the sire Halling for whom most wins are 7f+ and 6f successes rare. Trainer can get FTOs but is working with a much smaller string on the evidence of 2009-10. No bigger than RS and unable to go with the efforts 2f out. Another poor debut from a Ron Harris 2yo with Lady Cresta but check if she is a usable OR60s type. |
