GF going produced by watering with latest 4mm on morning of the meeting. Going Stick at 8.0 and the same for the April 26th meeting (when the ground seemed to get many horses unbalanced and underperforming). Stalls stands' side again. Strong breeze as a Headwind slightly from the left. Field raced stands' rail with Darnathean & Topcoat hooking up as the leading pair next to the rail and going too strongly. This pair folding fron 2f out and walking home. Dougie Boy tried to burrow under the stalls as soon as he entered and was hauled back up and held. Drawn next to the rail ended up racing behind on the outside of the group. Also not finishing the race off and the Turner horses seem to be looking ok at present but fading early (He's So Cool at Chester excepted & perhaps just a duff bunch rather than a health problem). Which left the race open for the better newcomers on Profile to fill the first three places have race within themselves in 2R and midfield. Race a good example of how the early season 'Form' can be shown up thoroughly when some solid (not better class) 6f+ types start to debut. Summary of, a typically harried looking, Peter Chapple-Hyam after the race. "Think he is ok and can be a good horse in time", "I do not Gun them at home like I used to and this is only my second runner, hope I have some better ones and think my 2yos are a pretty good group", "This ought to be a solid race and I liked the Haggas horse." |
