SUMMARY
Medium breeze as a half Tailwind from the right in the Back Straight, mostly a Headwind around the bend and a Half Headwind from the left in the Home Straight.

First fillies' 6f race of the Season but a lower level type with the Sires represented limited to Medians up to £25,000. Although, with the depressed sales markets in 2010 that brings more sires into the range. Field on the moderate side of average on Profile.

Pace of race average at most and only one change of position from halfway with to the finish as CDF able to get from being a neck down on Red Mischief to a neck up. The excitement of it all. Might be a -1 pace but seemed a bit more than that with two stragglers adrift and the first 6 not pulling and climbing over each other around the bend. Raced turned into a 2f+ sprint though and difficult fro green types to separate themselves and nothing, other than the winner, standing out anyway. One slight change put back by the line with Flosse responding better then GDancer at 2f to get to 6th but then stalling late and repassed.

Brian Meehan on his Website news (contentless cliche time) = "A nice Red Clubs filly who has been going well at home. She has a good draw, but our juveniles usually improve for a run."

New Trainer on, what seems a pretty good, Website = "Flosse is entered to run at Kempton on Wednesday evening and will be my first two year old runner. Although I like this daughter of Three Valleys I have little expectations as she is not the most straight forward of fillies to train. I am hoping that a run might make her grow up a bit in which case she may be all right later in the year over seven furlongs to a mile."

Roger Teal on his website on May 3rd = "18th April saw us have our first 2yr old runner of the season in Red Larkspur, she had been working very well at home and I was confident she may run into a place, things didn't go to plan though, she broke ok, Kieron Fox gave her a squeeze and she was then running too free and ran a little green in the last 2 furlongs, she would have learnt alot from her experience and she is a lovely filly."

Red Larkspur had stood out for size in a fillies' auction race on debut and tanked away in the lead. As the quote says the free running had then meant she folded and got very tired and therefore finished well back. But, the biggest in this field by some way and a better type overall. Able to get over from a wide draw to lead and mostly settled after that. Able to produce the best effort in the straight and a comfortable winner. Has the size to be real OR75-6 (perhaps rate higher) but not having to run to that here to beat some smaller fillies.

CDFortune in good condition and given an involving ride by Hughes as if trying to win FTO on this one. A little green at times but able to produce only a slightly better effort than the others behind. Slightly narrow bodied and a little leggy and a tad underpowered. OR71 type short of Open Maiden class in the full view.

Into the smaller fillies after that and mostly from smaller stables. Red Mischief a small trier and professional but well short of Open Maiden class and finishing 3rd in an Open Maiden not good for her Nursery mark. Quick Bite lighter behind and lacking some pace for the effort. A plus for the new trainer on competence but probably moderate and perhaps need 7f+. Good Clodora not looking in good condition not ready mentally (a little unhelpful). Given a standard non-involving debut for a Meehan ordinary one. See how she develops having some build as a positive but not expecting her to be Open Maiden class.

As a test perhaps pick out Greatest Dancer as one to follow. Smaller and compact but well built and shuffled back here early on and green in the straight. Left with the impression she is usable and can improve. Check her STO.

Flosse lived up to her billing being mulish early and taking time to get going. Then decided to take part herself around the bend and able to get back to the group. Made an ok effort at 2f out. Has a bit of scope to develop so see how she goes as the development project the trainer is expecting.

Schmooze's short SP seemed to be a bit of laziness in the Market and expecting trainer Botti to produce a solid one here. Has a good record at Kempton and strong debuts common (older ages and over the winter). But, he has changed his approach with 2yos and his FTO Strike Rate has gone down from 25% & 15% in his first two years with a licence to 0-4%-0 in the last 3 years. The one winner being the Listed class Electric Feel. Which meant a debut win unlikely anyway. Add to that she cost £1k as a 2yo and is another narrow bodied one made of two planks nailed together. Clearly underpowered for the job and added being very green to produce the dreadful effort. But not one to be expecting to be a STO blossomer.
