GGF produced by watering as 5mm on Thursday and then 2.5mm of overnight rain. Going Stick 7.6 reading. Stalls Stands' Side. Strong wind as a Three-Quarter Headwind from the right. Peculiar race to get a handle on. One explanation if that it was a strong paced race which softened up the Lo3 that raced into it. This was made up of ONIH (rail and racing too freely in the first 2f), Yearbook (Lane 1 and travelling a bit beter than ONIH) & Amadeus Denton travelling well as he had on debut. The first two of those left behind pretty quickly at 2f out and faded badly and beaten a long way and well below their form. That would suggest ADenton went through that part of the race seemingly comfortably. When the other pair folded quickly and left him alone and the jockey sat still in a clear lead and not asking AD to make his effort. Which meant the newcomers who had been in behind and a little off the pace were able to plug onto him and challenge him towards 1f out. The jockey on AD then had to panic and ask for the effort and able to make enough of an effort to win the 3-way duel having with the other two able to get into stride earlier than him. The three pulling clear to the line. Look at the race as simply two newcomers pulling clear and matching the short priced favourite and they are rating well and ones to follow. Overall, probably lean towards the pace breaking the leaders and lessening AD's effort. Artists Corner small and should be limited and not one to follow. Unseated the jockey TP and cantered down to the the 8f start and caught. Managed to unseat the jockey on the pull-up after the line to add to the negatives. A little more interest in Kohala who lost ground at the start and made a better effort to get into the duel. But, probably OR60s. |
