SUMMARY
GF produced by watering as 4mm applied Friday afternoon & evening. Going Stick 8.1 reading. Stalls Stands Side. Strong, three-quarter, Tailwind back after dropping for middle day of three day meet.

Hannon's website the day before the race = "Eddie Stobart is sponsoring most of the meeting, so Andrew Tinkler was keen that we had a runner for him if possible, and Tell Dad fits the bill. He was unlucky first time up at the Craven meeting but was beaten fair and square when he went back to Newmarket on Guineas day. We hope that stepping up a furlong will suit him, and it should definitely suit our other runner, Lilbourne Lad, who won really well on his debut at Doncaster but only got going in the second half of what was a fast-run race. The form has not worked out particularly well, but we like Lilbourne Lad, who, despite his penalty, should go well, and if things work out we will then think about Royal Ascot."

Stan Moore's blog aside about Snowed In = "He is in good form, but it's his first run on the grass and looks a hot enough race - he will run ok but could still need further. "

Tailwind ensuring Fast Conditions and Codemaster broke the 7f Course record in the 2:15 Listed race for 3yos.

Despite the fast time the race played out like an average pace with a 2f+ sprint at the finish of the race. Final time in the range normally run by Listed+ quality and that not in line with the visual effect of the race pace. Suggests the wind very strong (TV pictures shaky with the cameras hard to keep steady for eg) and making unsual condition.

[Update on June 7th after LL's win in Ireland = Hannon on his website = "Lilbourne Lad clinched his place in the team for next week's Royal Ascot meeting when scoring a runaway success in the Listed race at Naas on Monday. Richard Hughes made good use of Lilbourne Lad's early speed, and the 9-4 shot had the race won some way from home, eventually strolling in by six lengths. Richard Hannon jnr, on duty in Ireland, said: 1We have always liked Lilbourne Lad and, having been so impressive when winning first time out at Doncaster, we were disappointed when he then got beat at Newmarket, It was probably a combination of factors - he was giving the winner 3lb and maybe he lacked a bit of experience and did not go off fast enough - but he has done that very well. He is not a horse who shows us too much on the gallops in the mornings, but we will have to give serious consderation to Royal Ascot now (probably the Coventry Stakes) now, and after that we will be aiming for the valuable Sales races" ]
