Medium breeze as a Crosswind from the Right in the Back Straight, mostly a Headwind around the bend and a Crosswind from the left in the Home Straight. Low Level Median Auction for Sires with a median of £15,000 or under. A tight track where getting to the lead on the rail and controlling the race can make any horse difficult to run down. If you are drawn widest of 6 and go diagonally right from a good break and hamper the three horses inside you, including the two favourites, then it becomes very hard for you to get caught. Having said that Powerful Wind had shown promise in two previous runs and the Ron Harris 2yos do develop with racing. They also traditionally run porminenetly and he targets 5-6f races so suited to this sort of race shape and track. In excellent condition here, very fit and buzzy but a positive rather than having gone too far (as many early runs for the trainer do). As big as the favourite who looked disappointing in size in this group and raises some questions over the Haydock race he made his debut in. |
