SUMMARY
Good going with 1mm of rain the previous day. Going Stick with 7.0 reading having been the same for the May 7th meeting when the going was watered to be GGS. Medium Breeze as a Headwind.

Auction race with 10 males and 4 fillies (all on bottom weight for being cheaply bought). 10 males with just Evervescent on bottomweight and the other 9 penalised between 2lbs to 7lbs for their sales price.

Brian Meehan on his website = "ARABIAN FALCON - Promising on debut in a classy Newbury maiden, so it was a little disappointing that he took so long to get going next time at Goodwood, especially as he was working well at home. The flatter track here should suit him better and a much improved run is expected. HIDING IN THE OPEN - He was very green after missing the break badly a week ago at Newmarket and was never in contention. In that regard it makes this race more like a debut, but at least he should know more about it today."

John Best on his video blog wrt Lupo D'Oro = "nice 2yo,...shown plenty at home,...go there with a chance to win, straightforward type,.. improve dramatically for the run.."

Two Groups to some extent in the race with AFalcon & Evervescent running down the Far Rail for the whole race. Rest of the field formed up in centre track with JJ Leary pressing on to lead that group and shifted over to Centre-Far Side strip by halfway. Centre Group spread out in 2nd half of race and mostly race on the Far Side of Centre strip. Solid pace with AF & JJL within a head at Halfway with the 3rd-5th at 1L to 1.5L, 6th to 10th through in spread pack at 3L to 4L. 10th to 11th through at 5L to 6L and only HITO (again) adrift at 10L. Worth considering whether the pair that ran on the Far Side had an advantage over the Centre runners with the rail Faster. Solid pace into a stiff Headwind and field seemed to be finishing tired again. Only race on day on straight track.

Enough pace in race to spread field out by ability mostly and a long gap behind the leading 5 to the Garbage with the underpowered looking Fiction Or Fact in the gap (how did he end up as 1st string on debut?). Leading bunch some set of OR60s to OR70s and better ones might develop into low OR80s. Tight Lipped looked a stayer on debut and similar here in a staying 6f race. Lacks some pace but never stops plugging on. Better promise from Lupo D'Oro than final position says. Made a good forward effort to challeneger for the lead towards the last 1F but then got very tired and faded out again.
