Note the following overall numbers when reviewing these lists :-
-
281 = Sires that declared a 2yo runner in 2011 (down from 299 in 2010 & 339 in 2009)
-
175 = Sires which had at least one win. This was 62.2% of the total.
-
1,075 = Number of Races (1 resulted in a Dead-heat, so a total of 1,076 wins).
-
11,049 = Number of Declared Runners = (10.2 horses declared per race on average).
-
10,107 = Number of Actual runners after Non Runners & Withdrawals = (9.4 runners per race).
-
2,869 = Number of individual 2yos that were declared to run (43 missed all their engagements as NR or WD).
-
830 = Number of 2yos that won at least one race.
-
29.4% = Percentage of the 2yo population that won a race (Compare to Sire Winners to Runners %).
-
9.8% = A good working figure for the win percentage (Strike Rate) an 'Average' Sire should be able to achieve.
-
3.5 = The number of runs the 'Average' 2yo makes in a season.
-
In all cases on this website Winner means a horse that has won a race (a non Maiden). Win means success
in an individual race. The general use in Racing of 'Winner' to mean any success is too vague.
