SUMMARY
GFF from GF 2 days prior. 8mm watering Sunday-Monday am. Going Stick reading from 07:00am. Medium to Stiff Westerly Wind = Crosswind from the Right.

Average Pace but a Ragged Race with only the first two home running competent races and looking balanced on the half-barrel undulations. That pair ran in Centre track and ran a proper race to be able to judge their relative merits. Bamurru running for trainer Peter Makin who has not had a debut winner since 2002 when a delayed start and a set of better 2yos brought 3 FTO wins from 5 in later season. Used to get regular debut successes before that. Less runners overall since and he tends to get 1-2 winners each season now. He does front-load the competitive 2yos though and they do tend to show a lot of their full ability FTO. However in recent seasons the front-loaders have proved placers for the most part and not developing that far from debut unless it was better than has early average. Bamurru the 2nd debut of the season for Makin and both have finished 2nd of 6. Both have run prominently and been headed in later race. Bamurru a shorter one but a complete balanced sprinter. Ran straight here looking a natural and the best effort at 2F out and the best horse in the race. Got tired late and some hanging left and headed late. But, above average Making debut and should win, not be a placer, and perhaps with enough build to develop ok from a competent, ready, debut. OR70s nursery type in the longer term.

Majestic Red and above average debut for trainer Saunders who typically gets his winners by developing fillies with racing. The males tend to be readier FTO and try better tracks if thay are. Ran competently here but not able to match Bamurru until that one faded but on the plus side a willing response late on. Hard to see him winning above this level and one for nurseries around OR70?

Trainer Simcock used to get a lot of Ready FTOs but seems to have then less ready these days. He gets FTO wins with high class ones through to mid-season (his 3 since start 2007 have been Group winners Dream Ahead & First City plus 2yo Listed winner Desert Phantom). He then seems to get readier batches over longer distances (plus delayed sprinters) in later season. Which makes Al Emarati as favourite here perhaps of a sign of a thinner looking race on profile and 'Hopeful' Market formers wishing that an Arab owned, Newmarket trained one, would be good enough to see off the M4 corridor and West Country Bumpkins. Wouldn't a really good one get shorter in the Market and stifle the Majestic Red support? Add jockey Spencer into things and AE is going to have to be very good and natural to overcome that handicap. Did not stand out in group for size despite being the most expensive on show. Did not seem to handle the course and hanging left and ended up on the far side. On the plus side he never actually stopped and was plugging on in the last 1.5f. Trainer Simcock gave him as his 'Bargain Buy' in 2yos of 2012 saying that for what he cost he was delighted with him. Noting he was a natural with speed. Which he did not show here and the question is whether that was all track related or he is just another zippy OR70 one? Trainer seems to have shown a reasonable handle on the ability of his horses before they run in the past. Obviously better than he showed here but let him go STO and see how he runs and perhaps check the value elsewhere depending on the set-up .Worth noting he cost £19,000 which would be 'Big Money' for many trainers, including a number in this race and they must love hearing an Arab money backed man talking about £19k 'Bargains'.

Windforpower a smaller one and lacking some build. Runs too freely at present and too 'wild'. Hanging or veering in both directions during the race. But, has some pace if he settles down. The type you might be interested in if he turns up in later season at Kempton over 5f off OR50s with a low draw if he has settled down.

It's Only Business a late 5f debut for Turner and he tends to front-load most of the winners he has. IOB not a 5f pedigree and not looking suited to a fast 5f here although some of that greenness. Trainer does tend to be a bit OSFA about the 5f bit and not get the best out of more staying types at 2yo. See hoe he goes over further and if trainer can develop that.

Northern Harbour has a stouter pedigree overall and a small one with some length. His sales Breeze made him look like a galloping stayer. But, his lack of size makes that a misfit and problem. Too slow hereand not one to follow. See whether he turns up in one of those dire sellers that start the 7f races.
