£10k Bonus Race. Going Stick Reading from 07:00. Risk of Showers during the meeting. 45mm, yes 45mm, of Watering over the previous 5 days and still GFF. Stalls Far Side. Light Westerly Wind = Direct Headwind. Fast time and nromally one associated by OR90+ types going up to Group winners. But, fast conditions on the day with the 3yo handicap won in 72.29 by an OR57 rater. Looking at the shape of the race result the Changeover Point seems likely to be behind Cappadocia. The proximity of the 4-5th holds the rating level down and adds to the view of very fast conditions helping the time. Party Royal a neat meadium one doing a lot on better movement. Got a comfortable lead here and a strong finish and can rate higher. Late OR80s into OR90s and conditions type? Cappadocia travelled well enough on debut then not really pick up in the last 2F . Better here but again looking a bit stodgy and not really stretching. Ought to be OR80+ and leaves impression he could be better if his movement could improve. Mazeppa a medium and a little narrow. Not full Open Maiden level and OR68-73 level. First more controlled debut for Dalgleish this year. Has he got one to come who can win FTO? Out Of The Blocks a chunky little one who looked usable OR60s before he ran. But, had looked unwilling in his first 3 runs and the jockey always having to be at him and usually an indifferent response, rolling around, etc. Dascombe stable tend to get rid of the troublesome ones quickly and perhaps because they have so many horses they do not want to spend a lot fixing a lesser one. Trainer Carr presumably does have the time to give the individual treatment. OOTB still managed to drop last and 3L off the back at halfway but with the jockey humouring him. Seemed to produce a better, more balanced and more willing, effort in the last 1.5f. If the rating level is right then he improved, stayed ok and can rate a bit higher. Someone's Darling presumably over-rated for staying on from off the pace FTO but not by as much as her later runs have suggested. Travelled ok here and seemed likely to place until a late fade. Trainer seemd to have got into running her a lot without a plan at present. Needs to improve to be able to compete in nurseries off the OR she will get but has more potential than she is showing at present. Some ok profiles in the last 4 and you would think at least two of them would be up to winning this season. Hitherto a small chunky sprinter below Open Maiden level and seems likely to show what he can fully do 4TO in a nursery after this anonymous effort on return from a break. Trainer Ryan has used this race to introduce Amadeus Wolf & Bogart in recent years. Which means that 13/2 was actually a long SP for an expensive one he had chosen to run here. Bapak Besar just a medium one lacking the Bogart bulk and too green to get involved and runnin wide. But, also seemed to lack the Bapak Chinta zip and movement. Probably one to let go STO and see how he develops. Makinson Lane another medium one and Fahey has started various quality in the race before. Slow start and got into a bumping match with ND at point. Perhaps packed it in later on and another to let go STO. |
