FGF from GF 2 days prior. 10mm of Watering previous Fri, 5mm on Mon & 8mm on Tue. Going Stick Reading = 9.3 on Stands' Side and 8.8 on Far Side at 13:45. Medium SW Wind = Half Tailwind From the Right. Note the disparity in Going Stick readings and how this matched with where the field raced. Stated close to Stands' rail but field drifting wider from halfway and in Centre tack by the finish other than the 25/1 2nd placer who perhaps owes her place to running the fastest strip while others where hanging wide. Red Adair running widest most of way. Meehan noted pre-race that Bix had been remarkably clueless FTO which had surprised them and still green here spending more time with his head up thinking about things than getting on with it. Maxentius a debut for his trainer in a typical period when he runs a batch of competitive 2yos of whom most will be season winners. The better ones will win FTO and the Market often knows a fair bit about those. Trainer very positive about this one in '2yos of 2012' noting he was a reasonable size for one by the sire. Market confirmed all this. Not a strong field and a solid effort to go clear but against lesser opposition. See what level the trainer puts him at next. and presumably OR80+ on movement. Probably nothing of Open Maiden level behind unless Red Adair can scrape towards OR75 when he wises op. Had the disadvantage of racing widest and the jockey having to niggle him alond for most of the race. Jockey took the decision to get him fully going before 2F out which mean RA went from last at halfway to challenging the winner inside the last 2F aided by the early jump. But, he did it and the late fade meant he finished with the ruck. Type to snap together STO and the Hannon's swill pitch him at an appropriate quality race. Say here again or BTON. Alex'tai & OTF not ones to follow. Bix a better type than expected in Review but still laughably green here. Spending most of his time head up looking startled by the whole proceedings. One to see how he develops towards nurseries given the lack of nous and lower surroundings may get him a usable OR. Warrant Officer narrow and lacking some build. Below OR70. |
