Awful time and awful stuff. The sort of very weak auction race that minor trainers must dream of finding by dropping down to BTON. Bheleyf a small but ok built early type who had led in both her races and then faded to 5th. Doing worse on softer ground than polytrack. A short-runner but enough ability to win if she could stay. Held up here and able to move to the lead and go 2L clear. The extended 5f with an uphill finish almost caught her out but job done and going to struggle in nurseries as her precociousness edge leaks away. A mild positive for trainer Tuite who has now managed a 3TO & 6TO win with both 2yos he has run. In his first year in 2011 the first horses he ran eventually won (3TO & 5TO ones for him and much later for one he lost before it one). All low level stuff but he front-loads and seems to be able to adjust his aim to eventually find a win.

Trainer Hannon has a terrific record with cheap horses and has already had a FTO winner this year with a filly that cost peanuts. Boleyn a pony by a sire that gets small ones and green with it. Trained by anyone else and you would cross it off on one look. The thought of it being Evens favourite albeit a weak race would seem laughably. But, Hannon can get things done so you worry about dismissing it. For most of this race Boleyn seemed too small and clueless to get involved. But, while the other 3, including some bigger than Boleyn, are failing in various ways the little Hannon one is plugging on in the last 1F and almost catches the fading winner. Hannon really does now how to target his horses and get the best out of them. Boleyn clearly very limited and not one to follow in an empty race but grim fascination time to see whether the Hannon radar can find a poor enough race for her to win. Where could that be?
