Eventually GF from FGF after rain during the day as 7mm. FGF from GGF 2 days prior but raining on the morning of the meeting. Going Stick reading from 16:00. Medium NE Wind developing by evening = Half Tailwind from the Right. Interesting race with Madam Mojito revealing more ability than her size and debut effort suggested. A solid finish on debut in a moderate race. Small but ok build behind and a relaxed but mature attitude. Showed the same solid finish here and always holding the strongly supported favourite. Perhaps winning a little comfortably. Trainer Quinn interviewed afterwards and very informative. Said she had been very small as a 1yo so was cheap. But he said she had always shown his a lot of speed and good ability. Which fits with the short SP FTO. He said he felt she had won FTO despite herself and running green. But he noted that it was a poor race. He said he had run her at WTON because he felt she would not handle soft going. The SP here probably partly an indication of how a WTON win is considered a lesser one. Trainer then got more animated and volunteered that he already knew the next three races for MM. They were the Queen Mary, the Supersprint and then his memory failed him for the 3rd. Hard to think she is Queen Mary level but the Supersprint off a low weight might work better. Trainer Burke now in a period when the debuts should be strong for the better types. Exactement another one by US sire Speightstown and for owner Gittins who had a Group winner with another one by the sire in Lord Shanakill. Retained an the breeze up sales and her video shows a smooth mover but not showing real pace and staying on at the finish. An ok size but not the bulky type of the sire. Different type in a field full of early smaller types and taller if a little narrow. Travelled ok in the race like her breeze video showed but lacking the zip of the winner and always held by that one. Did enough in pulling clear to think she is OR80+ but perhaps 6f. Other 3 left behind and looking limited early winners lacking size and waiting for the handicaps to start. Ingleby Royale disappointing in review and small and neat and lacking scope. Ran below her form level and perhaps feeling the ground. Getting behind and hanging before some late response. |
