SUMMARY
Going Stick reading at 7:00am on the day. Stiff SW Wind = Half Headwind from the Right.

Stalls Centre but field came over to stands side but raced wide spread out from the rail with the first 3 home racing closest to the rail although probably the best three horses although SB raced widest. Sedate pace as if the jockeys had all been told to go steady given the softer going, headwind, extended 5f and young horses.

Slow time and only two slower since the start of 2004. One of those 67.82s by the tiny Aboyne in a weak version of this race on GS in 2005. The other 67.25s in late October in 2005 by an OR68 filly in a Nursery on Heavy going. Field finishing tired with the the last three home fading notably and the first two having a 'walking' race in the last 0.5f. Last race of the meeting was a Class 5 handicap over the same distance won by an OR68 5yo carrying the same weight but 3 seconds faster in 63.96s.

Pre-Race Questions Doc.

Mossgo & Sally Bruce both declared for the similar Auction event at LNGA the following day. John Best stating in his Video blog at the start of the week that the LNGA entry for Mossgo was a back-up in case the rain produced ground he thought was too soft here.

SB ran too free and away from the rail but probably limited anyway. RL not ready for day and medium at most. Somewhat odd run with a slow start and got behind looking green. Presumably helped by the slow pace he was able to progress up to the leading line although he seemed to do it comfortably enough. Travelling better than OOTB to 2F out and probably as well as the winner. But, got unbalanced and hanging and early fade after that and not building on the promise of how he travelled. Empty promise in a slow race or might he improve to peak STO and go ok in a lower Auction race. Market would probably tell you in this case and the further North they send him perhaps a positive.
