SUMMARY

GF as it was two days prior and North of country missed the swathe of rain which covered much of the centre of the country for the whole of Sunday. Course report 2mm of rain overnight after applying 3mm of watering on Sun AM. Going Stick reading from ? [Check Update]. Medium to Stiff NNE Wind = Three-Quarter Tailwind from the Left.

Slow time despite the going and tailwind. Lucky Lodge allowed to set a slower pace and produced the best kick having settled in front. Had time to baulk a bit in the last 1F with her ears picked and reacting to something beyond the line. Won a little comfortably.

Annie Gogh ran in The 'Ripon' April maiden but not a better type for the trainer. But, hampered STO after a slow start and closer to her real form here. Can still rate higher but now Open Maiden level. Might develop better over further.

Field only spread over 4.5L at halfway given the lesser pace. Difficult to make much progress in that set-up and fading off it not a good sign. Not a race to be delving too much into the ruck for the future but an interesting run by My Claire ridden by Barzalona at 2lbs overweight. In last place and 4.5L off the back at halfway. Made best progress from the rear and seemed to do it better than just plugging on past faders. Perhaps better given that she seemed to be hampered when going for a gap towards the last 1f. Picked up again after that and still making places at the line. With 2lbs less a better starting position and a clear run she might have pressed Lucky Lodge to respond more to win. My Claire beaten around 2L at the finish. Clearly 'promise' in a low level race and the trainer a negative. But, clearly worth checking NTO whether the Market has factored in the promise of this run or not and whether she is a value price.
