SUMMARY
£10k Bonus Race.

GS from SGS Previous day and GFF 2 days before. Going Stick reading from 06:30am. Medium to Stiff SSE Wind = Three-Quarter Tailwind from the Left.

Meehan website wrt Ighraa = "ran well after missing the break on debut at Thirsk. With that run behind her she is fancied to improve past some more experienced rivals, but could find plenty to worry about from a couple of well-connected newcomers in a hot fillies’ maiden."

Trainer Baker's website notes on Jollification = "... made a real impression at the recent Kempton Breeze-Up sales, clocking the fastest time of the day. She has the most fantastic demeanour and has settled into Whitsbury very well. We have done a couple of pieces of work since she arrived, and I would hope to have her out on the track in early May. Weather permitting ...UPDATE 19/05/12 We headed north to Thirsk with Jollification in search of decent ground. But boringly it rained all of last night, changing the ground to Good to Soft. We walked the course before racing, and I reckoned that the ground was not too bad. But our filly was never able to use her speed, and Ted Durcan reported that the ground rode pretty deep. We were in the first race. I am sure that if we had been in a later race we would not have run. The upside is that Jollification took the whole experience in her stride. We will be patient and wait for better ground, and I am sure that we will see a massive step forward next time out."

Pace too strong for the conditions. The Halfway Positions to Final hint at the two main stories for the race. The First 4 through halfway had hooked up in a wide pressing line with Vestibule only half a length off the lead at Halfway and racing closest to the rail of those 4. These four all faded notably with Constant Dream, Steer By The Stars & Lincolnrose all racing well off the rail and nearer to Centre track. CD gone soon after 2F out and SBTS and L'rose gone by 1F out. Vestibule hung on better and perhaps helped by better strip on the rail.

First 4 home were then the 'Midfield' fillies who were far enough off the Pressing Pace not to be broken by it and so inherit the lead and the race for the places. Ighraa &n Flirtinaskirt around 1.5L to 2L off the lead with MD a bit over 3L back and Shrimpton nearly 6L back. MD running the rail or 1 off it with Ighraa & Shrimpton Lanes 6-8 strip and FIAS widest. Assuming some rail advantage MD finished off best but seems a bit more than just 'Magic Carpet' and ok ability as well. Of a bias then mark Ighraa & FIAS up for their efforts. Shrimpton perhaps just plugging on into tired horses and an empty but of promise and not one to follow.

Feeling of a fast pace collapsing seems likely with Hot Secret getting from adrift and 12L off the lead at halfway to 6th at the finish beaten around 8L and behind a 4L gap to the first 5 home. But, HS did that running widest in Centre track so perhaps ok. Cut No Ice 6L+ back at halfway and beaten around 9L at the finish so seems more like trundling past tired horses than doing anything herself. Which Leaves Henrietta Rose with Dettori riding for Noseda. They are having a laugh Frankie, trying to ease you out at Godolphin then Jezzer puts you up on this Muppet and tells you she is 'ok'. HR a smaller one and completely clueless. Hung over to the rail but even having that advantage not helping her effort and seemed some combination of too green & unbalanced to compete so could not even make minor ground at the end. Left the impression she may be a bit underpowered even when she can run straight.

See how the Form develops but inclined to give Steer By The Stars another chance but she needs to settle better. Her debut 3rd looks good form now with the other 4 in the first 5 all having won since. Her 2nd STO in a 4 runner field was off a slow pace so could be suspect form. But, again, the 1st & 3rd she divided have won since. Vestibule seemed to be putting on some weight and did best of the pressing 4 aided by the Rail bias. Late OR60s leaking into OR70s and better on faster ground. Constant Dream very fizzy in prelims and ran too free wide. Collapsed early which is a bit of a niggle but worth another chance in less testing conditions. Similar colour to the smaller Wunders Dream but taller and narrower.

Ighraa & FIASkirt probably OR70s but may not be Open Maiden level. See how the form develops but slightly upside view of them given they were probably running against a bias. Shrimpton probably one to oppos NTO. Hot Secret ok to follow but let Cut No Ice go.

Henrietta Rose a question mark. Very green but lacked size & scope in this field. Is the new sire HTN going to give us these medium, and smaller, neat types?
