SUMMARY
Good from GF 2 days prior. Going Stick reading from 07:00am. Strong Southerly Wind = Direct Headwind.

Stalls Centre Track.

Notably Slow Time and seemed a Slow Pace and Suspect form to read literally. Only 0.86s quicker than the following 6f seller which was a poor contest and that race run at an average pace at most. Whole field within just over 3L of the lead ay Halfway and a lot of being held and FFH in the first half of the race.

Amazonas a smaller on and owner bred by Ogden out of a dam he bought from the Florida breeze-ups for a lot of money and finished 4th in an average Queen Mary at 20/1 as a maiden. Not that taking as a type and showed a bit more zip than her Review promised. But, this form not strong and the talk afterwards of Amazonas going to Royal Ascot sounds more like a 'Day Out' for Ogden than being competitive to win. Probably lesser type than her Dam and not one to follow.

Trainer Toller has always been selective about the 2yos he runs and doesn't have many run at all. Something has changed in the last 3 seasons with the Runs Per Runner increasing and FTO wins for the better class ones. Strike Rate still average to high despite the increase in runs per 2yo. Not a trainer to run one early unless they can compete which meant that a 100,000gns one like Living Desert should be ok and ready to go ok. Jockey tried to settle him early which meant he got behind for the 2F sprint. Then took time to find a gap to get through and a bit green and took time to pick up. Might have been another FTO win for the trainer but for that. Should be OR80+ and able to win a Solid Open Maiden NTO if he runs professionally and settles.

Beedee doesn't really have a 6f pedigree and won a weaker race than this FTO by coming from off a contested pace. Set a slow pace here which should have been to his advanatage but only if the race has lesser sprinters in. Left behind by two with more zip than him although did appear to be responding late on and seems likely he needs 7f+ for nurseries and OR70s type and his rating might leak into OR80s.

Clive Brittain a bit behind his 'Forward Season' Schedule and he has not had the April & May runners he does in those years. The June batch in the Less Forward years will include some usable ones plus at least very good one that can win FTO. Look through his record and MOST of the wins he ever gets by the end of June are by useful ones. On profile, and with jockey Doyle riding, Shafaani looked like an ordinary one. Ran ok in the sprint and got to the lead around 1f and faded late. Not a useful on on this but usable at OR70+ and ok size and type for that.

Mowhoob the first runner of the season for Gosden and a notably late start. Normally in April to May he will run a small set of ready 2yos plus the occasional useful one who can go to Royal Ascot. This early set will include a number of limited ones for major owners who will end the season maidens or need races below Open Maiden level to find a win. Almost as if he is running some 'Surplus Stock' to get a few marker horses to judge his others by and if they can find a win early then fine. Mowhoob a smaller one in Review and although a little green did not go well in the later race sprint. On profile he looked more an Ordinary 2yo Type of the trainer's first batch than a useful. Despite the SP probably one to let go STO and see whether he makes the Market for something else.

More interest in the bigger Admiralofthesea who looked a better physical type than his breeze at the sales. But he was green there and difficult to judge whether him getting unbalanced later was greenness or perhaps lack of co-ordination. A bit the same here when travelling well to the slow pace but nothing much happened when asked to sprint. Hung a bit right and little unbalanced. Not seeing the race out which is a niggle and got re-passed by Mowhoob. Check STO for improvement overall.

Captain Blue small and limited and why did they retain him for so much when he won a seller LTO? Unable to pick up in this race setup and blown away.

A lot more interest in Windsor Rose who was back on 3TO after 2 early season runs. Respect for the trainer means you would expect her to be a winner as his first runner of the season but what she showed on those first 2 efforts would cause you solid doubts. But, she looked much better here. Grown a bit, coat in good conditions and on her toes and with hints of the let-me-at-them attitude his cheapo winners need to have and was lacking in early April. Tried to settle her here and fought the jockey. Poorly placed for the late race sprint but against better types. Did just enough to think she will be ok. One to follow to 4TO assuming she goes into some winnable Auction race or similar.
