Good from GF 2 days prior. Going Stick reading from 07:00am. Strong Southerly Wind = Direct Headwind. Stalls Centre Track. Average pace at most and poor form. Tiger Sunset a solid size for the grade but has been running too freely and failing to stay in previous runs. Settled a little better here but the fact he managed to see out 6f seems to confirm a lesser pace. Trainer Weaver a moderate record with 2yos even given the quality. But does have a reasonable record in sellers when she stops running limited ones in maidens and nurseries. 2-12 with 4 others placed up to end 2011 from 9 different horses and the 2nd for Strawberry Duck here means 7 of the 10 horses she has run in sellers have won or placed. Suivez L'Argent seemed to run ok again after a slow start and 2nd through the first 5f and perhaps not staying the 6f. Lord Avonbrook disappoiniting and some mix of a tricky type and the jockey being too untidy and unbalanced to get the best out of any horse who does not do most of the organising for him. Ran similarly to debut in travelling ok then rolling around and losing ground when asked to pick up before a mild later response. Ought to do better but you would like to see a proper jockey on NTO to try to make it happen. Trainer Quinlan said he was happy with all his 2yos earlier this season because he had got rid of those who were no good. The one he raised a vague niggle about was Reberty Lee whom he thought might have gor 'a bit clever for his own good'. RLee has travelled ok up to a point then packed it in on his previous starts and Cheekpieces changed nothing here. RL seems best at packing it in. Has more abiliy than he shows but hard to predict him ever showing it at present. |
