SUMMARY
S from GS ins the am by race time. GS from G 2 days Prior. 6.5mm of rain on Thu and 4mm forecast for Race Day. Going Stick Reading = 09:30am. Stalls Stands' Side. First Meeting at July Course in 2012 = New Ground. Very Strong SW Wind = Crosswind from Right. 25-30mph.

Meehan website wrt Lilly White = "Will probably be better for the experience."

Field raced Far Side. Seemed a mixed pace with FS leading early but settled and other pulling. Fallon on AFortune unable to hold her fully and pulled to lead by 1.5F gone. He seemed to wind the pace up from halfway and set a stiff enough Pace test because of that to spread the field out by ability to a large extent. Soft ground and Strong Crosswind making it difficult conditions overall. Pace winding up from halfway also seemed to identify which fillies were going best in order. Niggling then Driving starting early with the winner and 3rd the last 'off the bridle'.

Newfangled always travelling best and comfortably. Produced a strong effort to go clear. Trainer Gosden a late start this year but often starts a 'good one in early to mid-June that can win FTO. Downbeat about this one in '2yos of 2012' but a solid size and good mover. On this evidence presumably the best filly he has ready early and will probably be tried at Group level and perhaps at Royal Ascot.

Solid run by Fleeting Smile although left behind by the winner. OR80+.

Summer Dream got behind after a slow start but probably travelled second best and a bit green when asked to make ground through a gap. Just medium size but a good debut by trainer standards now and solid Open Maiden level prospect STO.

Annie's Fortune not getting home having run freely in tougher conditions. But lesser quality in review and some sort of lower to mid OR-70s probably and type the trainer struggles to win a maiden with and perhaps end up in nurseries. Typical for trainer to get free runners that need to settle down. Note that his perhpas the first hint that the HYDK maiden she ran in FTO has been over-rated. Mixed results from that maiden with Blue Clumber & Bayan Kasirga placing NTO but Ayr Missile & Open Letter beaten after this and Fadetoinfinity (4th) looking a solid placer NTO but now entered for the Rous Seller at York by Channon. Does he think she is an OR70 only one?

Trucanini an interesting type and seemed to stand up her trainer's view of her. He has said she is a solid size and mover and more forward than he expected and start her at 7f. Started 6f here and moved like a galloping stayer in the later stages and unlikely to be a 6f type and not in faster conditions. But, the size and ok movement were there and an ok debut by trainer standards. Interesting prospect STO over 7f int he right set-up.
