SUMMARY
S from GSG 2 days prior. 49mm of Rain Sun-Mon, 3mm on Day by early Morning and up to 10mm more forecast during the day. Going Stick from 06:45am. Rails at Maximum Width. Medium to Stiff Northerly Wind = Direct Tailwind in the last 3F, Crosswind from Right on the Ridge.

Field came Stands side by Halfway. Previous handicap run in 64.54s by OR71 8yo carrying 12lbs more than Belle Intrigue.

Belle Intrigue first runner of season for Perrett and stable seems to have developed some traits but the Headline is how moderate to poor their record has been since 2005. Low number of winners each season and a low strike rate. What changed? Someone else doing the buying and less of the old Harwood contacts tipping exmpensive ones through the door. Despite the small number of wins overall they do seem to get FTO wins each year. These seem to be split as the odd natural 2yo early and then more prepared 7-8f types after mid-season. Breeze VT for Belle Inrigue shows a competent breeze and a good nodding style when the jockey not strangling her. Perhpas a lot of the prep done before BIntrigue got to the year. But, had a soft race here and unlikely the Perretts will have developed into a stable to follow. Ryan Moore tp of the jockey's list at present and seems to be judging pace well at present and 'insisting' with horses in a way they understand , not strength but just presence. Moore seemed to have decided he could win this 0.5F out and lead on the line. Horse responding to the desire and the jockey on Kicken Off seemd to be waiting for the inevitable in the last few strides rather than getting on with it as if he felt the presence as well.

Whistling Buddy failed to see out 5f on debut on a fast course with firmer ground and a howling tailwind. This extended 5f downhill but with an unphill finish. Along with the soft ground he travelled ok but WB looking in trouble by inside the last 1F. Failed to stay. Sweaty and tight and trainer does get this type of front-loader who fails to progress and ends the season as a placer.

Kicken Off presumably usable OR60s and ran to that here. Probably little scope to progress though.
