SUMMARY
£10k Bonus Race.

SHV from S 2 days Prior and Meeting had to survive an Early Morning Inspection. 43mm of Rain in 30 hours through to 05:00am on Race Day. Forecast of further rain before racing. Going Stick Reading = [Check UPDATE]. Medium Northerly Wind = Mostly a Crosswind from the Right, Slight Headwind in the last 2-3F.

Field came stands' side early. Slightly faster time than Div 1 but seemed a faster pace. As noted in Div 1 notes the large fields for the divisions of this race in the last 3 years rarely produce later Open Maiden winners. A sprinking of Auction, Seller & Nursery winners across the divisions more typical.

Not a strong field and moderate from.

Cruck Realta another positive for new sire Sixties Icon. Small but compact and well built and seems a natural balanced racer. Very good nodder when not held and travelled well if in a moderate race in unusual condtions. Lacks a real kick but stays ok and low scope. OR70s nursery type. But, talked up by Channon as a Chesham Stakes runner (Listed 7f) at Royal Ascot next week as the sire qualifies to have runners and a good run would be another advert for him. The instinctive reacion is to laugh that off because she is not real 'Kisted Quality' whatever that really means in vague 'Black Type' speak. She isn't an OR90s filly, for example, and not a real OR80s one. But, the Chesham Stakes often produces a weak field and the placed horses can often be OR70s nursery runners. So, while she isn't good enough to be 'Listed Class' you would need to see the declarations for the Chesham before you said she would not be able to plug on into a volunteer 3rd (like Effie B has been doing). A thin or plain moderate field and that a possiblity.

Momalorka sub OR75 and needs to fnd a similar moderate race to win.

Richard Hannon jnr. interviewed before the race and informative. Said Red Adair was ok and had got tired on debut. Similar run here in showing some response int he last 2F but then fading by 0.5F out. He looks the classic sub-OR75 type the trainer targets at these Auction races. Say an OR70 one that might rnd up in claimers in late season. Junior said that Branson was a bulkier model but was 'very lazy at home' and would need 7f. So he was here to tried to be bullied out of the laziness and get him working. Horse just about won here and did only a bit more than he fancied. Intervew then drifted onto other matters and the 'Second String Effect' seems to have drifted into pundit conciousness. Interviewer Luck said he had not seen a trainer so deflated by a 1-2 finish in a maiden at NMKJ as when Havana Gold beat Pearl Acclaim. Junior said that they were both very good horses but he though PAcclaim was better but had handled the soft going less well. Junior then said that often their two runners in a maiden were similar quality and one being '10 points longer' just wrong and rare value with one of their runners. He gave another example saying they were running Toronado & Hands Of Time at NWBY 2 days later and they were very similar horses and either could win and they should be similar SPs (check). He also said that Fleeting Smile had failed to handle the ground at NMKJ and was much better than the 2nd she ran (although the winner looked pretty good).

Bountybeamadam ran too freely to show what she can do fully. Stupenda not one to give up on Review grounds. She ought to be a usable one on strength. Ran too freely FTO given and attacking ride. Tried to hold her up here and perhaps did not handle the going so failed to pick up. See what value she is 3TO if back on AW or better ground and perhaps down in distance.
