GSS from HV two days prior. Going Stick reading = 08:00am. Light Westerly Wind = Headwind. Win for Lord Avonbrook means that his dam and all 3 siblings have won over 5f as 2yos and the other 4 by early April so this one a 'slow developer' relatively. All 3 siblings have won at seller or claimer level and LA a middling physical type in the set so ought to have been up to winning this. Has travelled ok in bot previous runs but then gone through a 'wobbly' phase when asked to pick up and losing ground before a response late on showing the loss not due to fading. Not obvious how much of that wobbling due to the horse and how much due to the A7 who looks like a Sunday hacker often when asked to anything more thna sit still and let the horse get on with it. Fortunately for the A7 here this was such a weak race LA able to get to the lead inside the last 2F just on his 'travelling'. Starting hanging left and a bit wobbly when the jockey started moving towards the last 1F and asking for an effort with SS not entirely gone. Again straightened up late and some resonse to the line late. Might develop a bit further. 12/1 SP an indication of the stable not a Betting one and rarely much link to the Market unless for particular owners (say Mr Brook). The Tevershams as owner breeders have do no seem to bet. Tim Easterby playing with his Owner's Colours again to some Second String Effect. Sulky Sheila ridden by Sullivan (Mick's jockey) and in the 2nd colours while Zero Rated had stable jockey Allan and the first colours. Perhaps the pair are similar ability and Allan there to give ZR a strong ride in her blinkers to try to get her to compete fully. Which she did not. SS had shown more ability in her two runs anyway and more pace and willing LTO on the same course in a much tougher race. ZR's 3rd place in a seller at RIPN was close to worthless form even at this level but the Market and Pundits react to Numbers in Form Strings often without checking, or understanding, the quality. Ok run by SS a bit free in the lead and fading later than she did LTO here. Dil Laney small even in this group. On previous runs has seemed to get outpaced and get unbalanced or hampered at times as he tries to plug on. Lack of pace a problem here and hampered by SS as she rolled to the rail 2F out but this because he was going slower and unable to hold his position. Some response when switched out wide. Looking a bit underpowered but also a bit head up and thinking and needing his mind made up. Debut form over-rated but seems one who needs everyhting to go his way and does not react well to the 2F out requirements and his lack of any kick exacerbates that. |
