SUMMARY
GFG from G two days prior. Going Stick reading from 07:00am. Stalls Centre Track. Medium to Stiff Northerly Wind = Direct Tailwind.

The sort of race 'Shape' we have had far too few of in this wet season so far. Quicker ground, a tailwind and a faster time because of the conditions. The leader setting out to put pressure ont he others and having the field spread out over 10L+ at halfway but never stopping. Rather than the pressing leader fading on bad ground and a lottery over the horse that plugs on to win in a time in keeping with a race nearly 1f longer in distance. Pixilated a full brother to a 5f 2yo despite the sire and a sub OR75 one in real terms but a zippy ready one if narrow bodied and lacking some build and scope. Moves ok. Trainer Kelleway as starry eyed about her horses as her father used to be ('Pattern Race Paul', and all that) and has put Pixilated into the Windsor Castle at Royal Ascot. More for the ladies to get a chance to wear their outfit and hats than because the horse is up to that level.

Moderate race behind and Not Now Blondie a small one cheaply retained at he breeze up sales. Did a poor breeze because green and unbalanced and rider never got her into any worthwhile pace. But, stocky build so hinted at being usable if not 5f. Which matched with the 'promise' here in finding the pace a bit stiff but plugging on solidly as if she would be usable as a low level over further.

Miss Starry Eyed smaller and more compact and an early 5f type if anything lacking scope. Kept up ok on debut until the bigger males stopped messing about and got on with it. Similar her in that she is a competent trier but size limits her and struggles to stay. Ought to have a go in a seller soon to try to get some sort of win. Lilly May probably smaller and lighter build and struggling to keep up at all. Ritaach another smaller type and np particular interest.

Getaway Car looking out of place amongst the willowy Pixilated and lots of smaller fillies. Solid build and in excellent condition. But why supported as favourite? Where could that have come from? Seemed to have got outpaced over 6f FTO and then strangled in rear STO and never put in the race (NPIR). Dropping to a fast 5f did not look ideal on that and you would have needed some 'connected' info to be interested int he prices on offer. Watching him go to the start would not have changed you view. He doesn't move like a 5f horse, he's a lehtier ggalloper. If you like waffling about pedigrees in vague ways then he hasn't got a 5f pedigree unless he is high class which he clearly isn't. Jockey Ahern entirely inactive and let him get adrift at the back and with the leaders not stopping much he was out of the race before 1f was gone. This picked up on ATR but no WTRB made and the Stewards did not ask Ahern what he was doing on the favourite. Unedifying stuff. NPIR, with knobs on, here and presumably they cannot be as barefaced as to run him in a 7.5f nursery at Beverley NTO off OR61, or whatever. Better than he has shown but see where he goes next.

Opposite problem with Purple Bay as another bigger male in the field. But, too would up and colty in the prelims. Had a go at mounting Pixilated as the red mist had descended after having already unseated his jockey in the Parade Ring and run loose. Then kicked Pixilated in the stomach and that horse took off with his jockey back to the stables. This sort of wildness not unknown with trainer Sly 2yos. Purple Bay sold at the same sales as Not Now Blondie (Not Now Purple..) and also did a poor breeze. Green, uncoordinated and so on. But another noted as looking better Physically (compact, solid build) than his breeze shows and might be usable. But, trainer only had 2 x 2yo winners and they seem to need to be high class naturals to succeed (1 a Classic winner at 3yo) rather then the trainer 'knowing' how to get the jobdome. PB clearly needs to settle down and develop to show what ability he has.
