SUMMARY
HV from HVS two days prior. 14mm of rain overnight and 3-6mm as showers through day. Course warning in morning of waterlogging if showers are heavy. 54mm of Rain previous Thu-Mon. Stalls Stands' Side. Going Stick = 10:00am. Strong to Very Strong Southerly Wind = Direct Headwind

Heavy going and a headwind and a Slow pace. Race developed into a 2F+ sprint at the finish between horses variably suited to that and on ground which made it difficult to really 'pick up' on show the effort they had. Even given the downhill finish and the slow pace none ot the field really finishing the race off.

More of the same from Birdman who takes time to get going and has looked best late on in the race going on in the last 1F to the finish with some purpose. Jockey set him a reasonably tough challenge here sitting in last 2L off the slow pace and then expecting him to get past the others. Given the set-up he did this pretty well although he took time to pick up and offering to hang left at various points. Pulling away from the faders at the finish but not rfinishing strongly himelf. But at least a Class level above the others so able to win anyway.

Fortinbrass a smaller one in the group and had the advantage of setting the slow pace. Lesser effort at 2F out and dropped to 3rd or 4th. Willing attitude to battle back to 2nd by just plugging on befor fading. Nursery type and likely to need to get his OR down to be competitive in an average nursery when he starts given he may well end up rated high 70s.

Beedee won a weak race on debut and the race shape set up for him with the leaders folding and he was able to plug on through to win. 2nd & 3rd from his win both well beaten since and the 4th dropped to a seller 3 days after this race. Has now run in two slower paced races with a late race sprint against better horses and shown as below Open Maiden level. Has looked a stayer before so disappointing to some extent he didn't seem to stay on here after just a so-so effort in the 2F out kick. Hint of him trying to pack it in before 1F out and the jockey got stuck in with the whip to get some response. Another to go to nurseries and if he doesn't stay better and his attitude more robust then hard to see him winning off his opening OR.

Walter White has failed to stay 6f on his first two starts and looked a development project in terms of getting him to settle int he race and grow up mentally in the prelims and show a less fizzy attitude there. An extended 6f on Heavy always looked too far for him and so it proved. Probably produced the second best effort at 2F out having raced settled and alone on the Stands' Rail with the others 8-10 lanes off it. Fading soon after entering the final 1F. Unlike some of the others he appeals as one who has more to show in the right set up and competitive 4TO in a nursery assuming he doesn't end up too much OR73+ beacuse of the races he has run in.

Ishi Honest running widest and took time to get going before an average effort in the 2F sprint. But cracked early and moving awkwardly when eased at the finish. Another who has seemed a stayer but not getting home and vulnerable in faster races and firmer going and 2f Sprints. Another who is going to go into Nurseries a too high for her actual ability you would think.
