SUMMARY
£10k Bonus Race.

GS from G 2 days prior with 1.5mm of rain in last 24hrs. Going Stick reading from 07:00am.

Medium to Stiff Westerly Wind = Half Headwind from the Right.

Paul Cole news on June 11th about Carlton Blue & other 2yos. = "The weather continues to affect our racing plans. Carlton Blue ran a good race at Leicester on conditions that didn't suit. He may run at Salisbury on Sunday and he looks good to win a maiden race for us. Composed runs today, I would prefer faster underground conditions but his experience should help. He is still for sale in shares or full ownership. Kalicamix was only beaten 5 1/4 lenghs at Newmarket last Saturday and over seven furlongs he sould improve. Cut No Ice ran a little below expectations but seems to want further. Puteri Nur Laila will run when the ground gets faster, she seems to be improving. "

Slower Pace set by Stand N Applaude & Kimberella close to Stands' Rail. Whole field compressed into 5L off the lead at halfway and spreading out towards centre track from the Rail leading side. A lot of pulling behind in the first half of the race and and number getting unbalanced while held and hampering others. Pace wound up before 2F out and seemed to set enough of a Power Test given the GS going and the Headwind to mostly sieve out the better ones near the front.

Solid run by Kimberella who ran similarly to his last run at GDWD. Lacks a better kick 2F out but gets into a solid stride and able to keep that going for an extended period. Presumably above average nurseries type now and might try 7f.

Ginger Goose one of those good debuts at longs SPs that pop up for Fahey at times. Look at his Debuts by SP and you can almost see 2 Types. When he is positive the Market can pick it up and they get short. In the absence of that or perhaps if he has no strong view or thinks the horse will need the run becaus eit is green the SPs can get long. Seemed a solid debut rather than a moderate one getting placed because of the Race Shape.

Way the race developed meant there were more interesting perfomances for the future behind. Lewisham ended up last through Halfway because of being held up and getting hampered. Produced the most striking forward effort inside 2F out and looked likely to win inside 1F out. Running widest to make his effort and faded late on. Can rate higher than he has so far if he can use the kick he has efficiently. Ok to follow.

Califante another to get behind and tried to make progress int he last 2F through the group as it broke up towards the rail. Not a clean run through and a solid effort to get to 4th. A niggle along with Ginger Goose at a longer SP that the front of the race may not have been that strong form. See how she goes NTO.

Athman very green throught he race, hampered at times and better than his final result givent he problems. Ok to follow.

Then back into the niggles with Trymyluck having and easy path through the race ont he rail but seems too close up as a debut for the trainer. A debut at this level ought to be able to win in the late OR60s into 70s and profile says that unlikely. Mixed ability at the front of the race because of the way it played out?

Newstead Abbey refused to settle and fought his jockey for the first 2.5F, much too long. Only a minor effort inside the last 2f before fading as would be expected. Another that needs to be 'fixed' to show his real ability.

Stand N Applaude got a soft lead which perhaps made him look better than he is. Then given a peculiar ride in the last 2f with the A7 jockey mostly immobile. A set-up ride 3TO to protect the OR mark for nurseries or the jockey just too green to do anything?

Two Pancakes another flop from the RIPN race which has produced 2 x NTO winners and seems to confirm those 2 found 'winnable' races rather than the RIPN race being under-rated. But, TP made a better forward effort than 12th suggests and around 4th place at 1F out so must have been eased. Mickstaetc 'promising' FTO but perhaps just plugging on in a moderate race for a full ride. Poor response and hanging towards 2F out here and dropped to last. Starting to pick up and plug on again into the last 1F, not promising but some response, but bloced off and eased. FTO 'promise' presumably not worth much (despite the ATR trumpeting of eyecatcher & notebooks at the time but silent about that here) but see how he develops.
