SUMMARY
 S from G two days prior. 4mm of rain since the end of Thur meeting with showers forecast fo the day. Going Stick = 10:30am as 8.1 Centre & both sides.

Strong to Very Strong SW Wind = Three-quarter Headwind from the Left.

Field raced in Group Centre to FarSide strip. Race played out like a Fast Pace and allowing Closers to get to 2nd, 4th & 6th without ever threaening the winner and effectively just hauling themselves past fading fillies who had tried to get more involved. AAllison producing a solid kick to get to a Volunteer second from 7L+ back at halfway and a typical Spencer ride which can get places in faster paced races at Ascot. Amazonas producing a lesser kick and realy just plugging on to eventually get to 4th without convincing she is this class. That pair getting themselves into the best of the fillies that raced more prominently and handled the pace ok. Good run by Premier Steps as a bigger type able to sit comfortably enough 3L+ off the pace and produce a kick to a clear 2nd and them stalling late to be caught by a Closer. The Gold Cheongsam fizzy in the prelims and a good effort forward in later race but looking like she failed to stay the final 0.5f. The better five fillies probably got to the front 5 despite the different routes. Mostly those short of the required quality behind but worth noting the effort of Ana Emaratiya who ran a bit freely but produced a good effort 2F out that got her to a clear 2nd and still 4th at 1F out before a bad fade. Has more zip than the 7th suggests and presumably back to 5f NTO. Poor runs by the Hannon three with Equitania running much too freely and fighting Moore for most of the first half of the race and not much left in the last 2f. Tassel (Hughes) hanging right and moving awkwardly again when asked to make an effort 2f out. Light Of My Life a bit head up in the first half of the race and perhaps green but probably just because she was struggling with the pace.

But all that hides the fact that Newfangled was in a race and Class Level on her own. Gave one of those performances where the horse gets on top of the jockey and runs too freely but still wins. Going so strongly 2F out she went 4-5L clear with the jockey still sitting still and trying to hang on to her. Despite that she still produced a real Kick 1.5f out to go clear. A bit unbalanced and part eased late made the winning distance less. An effort with echoes of Canford Cliffs win in the Coventry. Like that horse and Frankel she could rate much higher if she settled and used her power efficiently. Just a medium one and a bit compact. But well built and balanced and notably rangy given her shape. Much the best filly we have seen so far despite the rating and can rate much higher. Interesting to see how much development she has given the size but she has already shown she has something really different in Class terms.
