SUMMARY
£10k Bonus Race. Race in 2 Divisions in 2009-10.

Going Good at start of day with Going Reading 7.2 from 08:00. But rain due to move in from 11:00am before racing and continue through the Afternoon = Check how this affects the going and note that the two Divisions of this race are 65 minutes apart. Stiff to Strong Easterly (ESE a touch) which is a Direct Tailwind.

[UPDATE - 12:15 the course reporting 2mm of rain and consistent rain had set in. Going changed to GSG at this point. Going changed to GS at 13:20. Going Changed to S at 14:20]

Notably slow time and 1.5 seconds slower than the First Division which was run 65 minutes earlier. Solid rain during the intervening period amd a change of going. Field raced wide spread across to centre track and odd runner a little wider. Not the grouping next to the far rail as often happens. Essentially a staying race and suited to those that handled the going. The first two home drew clear in the final furlong but both fading by the finish. In that context worth making some allowance for how poorly or moderately some horses ran.

Aside from Fahey in his Craven Team piece on the SL website = "We could have a good day at Beverley on Wednesday as the two-year-olds could run big races, "

Slow time and conditions worse than for Div I. Not a speed test as such so some caution with the result. Tharawal Lady first runner for John Quinn and he does front-load and get strong debuts in early season with his early runners. Has started to get FTO wins again after a break but normally at shorter SPs. Competent run by TL from the start and travelling OK in mid-track throughut. Outstayed the runner-up. Smaller to medium type and probably OR70s.

Interesting run by Red Style and one of a 'Type' for his Sire Red Clubs. He was a neater specimen but got a number of bigger, gawky types in his first season. Trainer Midgely had one of those with Phoenix Clubs in 2001 and this one another bigger, lop eared, type. Another example was Red Larkspur who belted along too hard on debut then saw off a lot of little ones STO with a more controlled front run. RStyle looked ok size in a solid maiden FTO but faded badly. Ran too freely in the lead here but kept going well given the condtions. Ought to be ok of OR67+ winner.

Inchy Coo a deep closer who got to 3rd by being held up off the back on the rail and then picking a path through the faders for a Volunteer Third. Still going forward at the finish but what does it amount to given the Run Style and never involved in the race? See how he goes STO.

Solid run by Jubilee Games tracking the pace and able to raise some forward effort before a late fade. Probably solid OR68-72 type the trainer might flirt with claimers with but will win and go ok in nurseries.

Perfect Words ran ok from a bad draw and in centre track throughout. Still 3rd and giving it what he has into the last 1F before fading. But, beaten by better horses.

To complete the poor run for Brocklesby Reps Lucky Lodge also badly drawn and sweaty and a bit fractious overall. Got into it ok in centre track until a fade towards the last 1F and then eased. But, another indication that the midfield of the Brocklesby was not that good OR60s types and there were better horses out the back. [UPDATE = WTRB Report = Jockey said horse 'Ran Flat']

Dha Chara a short price FTO and still owned by trainer Hollinshead. Ok size in this limited group and green overall and a slow start. Had to work to get back into the race and a solid fade later. Ought to be better NTO and an ok chance as a STO placer.

Trainer Tinkler usually starts limited placers or real duff ones in this Auction race and had two runners on the day. Mount Seymour walking by the last 1F but very green overall and appeals as the more likely of the pair to be competitive at a low level.
